Institutional and policy frameworks supportive of water security and integrated water resource management is still a daunting challenge in Eastern Africa and the Greater Horn of Africa

Over-exploitation of water resources, water regime modifications, water contamination, and a growing number of flood events—negative effects of which are amplified by climate change—are all issues that require harmonised, integrated actions from management authorities in countries that share river basins.

Chris Agius, Parliamentary Secretary for Research, Innovation, Youth & Sport, and Prof. Michael Scoullos, Chairman of the Global Water Partnership – Mediterranean (GWP-Med).
