The 3^rd workshop of the Capacity Building Programme “The Economics of Adaptation, Water Security and Climate Resilient Development” took place in the framework of the Water, Climate, Development Program for Africa (WACDEP), in Hammamet, Tunisia, on December 22-25, 2014. The Programme is composed of a series of five workshop trainings that are following the framework cycle developed under WACDEP for water security and climate resilience.

 

On the global stage, China has remained a low profile as a late comer in regard of technology, economic development, environmental protection, water and other resources security, climate adaptation. Regardless of the latest adverse impact on the promotion of “the Paris Agreement on Climate Change”, China has kept its promise to the Paris Agreement since it signed in late November of 2016, giving a strong push to the international efforts against global warming.

Please note the deadline has passed and we are no longer accepting applications. We are looking for young activists to join forces for water & climate! Five awards of €1,000 each are available for youth-led projects which are based on the white paper recommendations made at COP 21.

The Global Water Partnership Southern Africa (GWP SA) is seeking to recruit an Executive Secretary for GWPSA to be based in the regional Secretariat in Pretoria, South Africa. This is a senior position that will carry the responsibility of managing and implementing GWPSA’s strategies and programmes (regional and continental), as well as well as developing and nurturing political and programmatic relationships with key institutions and GWP Partners, for meaningful and effective delivery of the programmes.

Global Water Partnership (GWP) welcomes the aspirational 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development adopted by Member States at the UN General Assembly on September 25, 2015. The transformational vision of the agenda is ambitious and will need an unwavering commitment on the part of everyone. GWP will play its part.

GWP is introducing several new publications at World Water Week 2014: two GWP Technical Committee Background Papers, one Perspectives Paper, one Briefing Note and one Proceedings Paper. All of these are available online, and in hard copy through the GWP online order form.

The annual GWP Network Meeting will be held on 11 October at 13.00 Central European Time (CET). It is a virtual meeting, to be broadcast on the GWP website www.gwp.org – with a special guest message from UN Deputy Secretary General (DSG) Jan Eliasson. A live session will be held in connection to this on GWP’s Facebook page – we welcome your questions and comments.
