The pilot action on the head source of the Mekrou basin known as PAREM is coming to an end. A delegation of the Ministry in charge of water and the CWP-Benin carried out a mission on December 22nd, 2017 to monitor the activities carried out by PAREM.

On World Water Day 22 March 2017 the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Faculty of Law, University of Ljubljana hosted a roundtable entitled "The importance of drinking water sources for international peace and security."

The Water, Climate and Development Programme (WACDEP), being implemented by Global Water Partnership Central Africa (GWP- CAf), has surpassed expectations and supported the production and delivery of National Adaptation Plan (NAP) in Cameroon.

In Sub Saharan Africa, climate change is worsening at an alarming rate. The situation on food security vis-à-vis water resources is serious and everyone has a responsibility to develop appropriate means to address the issue. Following national consultations in the led-up to the UN Committee on Food Security’s (UN CFS) 42^nd session last year, 50 representatives from 9 countries across Africa met in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on 18-19 May to prepare for the next step; moving from identification to implementation (#WFEEnexus).

CWP Benin organized on April 25 2017 a workshop to validate the water security strategic framework in the Mekrou basin study carried out by a consultant at regional level.

Participation in feed the Future meeting

On 23^rd June 2016, the project Manager and Intern of WACDEP Ghana participated in the Feed the Future meeting organised by the International Water Management Institute (IWMI). The meeting was held on at the conference room of the institute. The main purpose of the meeting was to share lessons emerging from project implementation and to seek stakeholder inputs towards streamlining perspectives for improved project performance. In all, twenty (20) participants selected from civil society, government institutions, ministries and nongovernmental organisations.
