GWP Chair - Dr. Oyun Sanjaasuren

Dr. Oyun Sanjaasuren is the appointed Chair of GWP, effective July 1, 2016. Dr. Oyun is a former Member of Parliament of Mongolia, former Minister of Environment and Green Development, and former Minister of Foreign Affairs. She currently serves as President of the United Nations Environment Assembly of UNEP.

GWP China and its Partners Develop Water Salon Campaign

The series of themed water discussion under the “Water Salon” has been designed and prepared since October of last year.  The first activity was held on May 11, 2015 in Beijing. Water Salon is organized by GWP China and its three regional partners, including the World Resources Institute (WRI) China, the WWF China and the IUCN China.

Water Education in Elementary School in Hunan

On the occasion of World Water Day, GWP China Hunan, with a team of volunteers from partner organizations, met elementary students in Yijiawan Center School of Shaoshan County, in Hunan Province. It's a routine of GWP China Hunan to organize "World Water Day" thematic campaign annually. The theme of 2017 is water saving and ecological development.

Spain: Segura River returned to its health (#478)

The Segura Basin in Spain is the driest in Europe. With 365 mm of annual rainfall, this basin has the lowest rainfall in the European Union. Nevertheless, it is also a region which exports fruit and vegetables. The Segura River is thus the main water sources for irrigation. In 1986, when Spain became a member of the European Union, the production of agriculture and canned food significantly increased. As a consequence, a rise in wastewater discharges and lack of water in the already water-stressed Segura River brought extreme deterioration of the water-related ecosystem and a strong social discontent.
