Sri Lanka Water Partnership (SLWP) organised an interactive webinar on 29 March 2017 in line with World Water Day 2017 with the aim of revamping the existing Emerging Water Professionals (EWPs) Network in Sri Lanka.

On 10 October in Slovenia a National Consultation Dialogue on Drought took place for a third time. The event was organised by the Slovenian Environment Agency (ARSO) and Global Water Partnership Slovenia in the framework of the Integrated Drought Management Programme in Central and Eastern Europe (IDMP CEE). 

A regional water youth network was created by participants to the recent Youth for Water Conference organised by GWP Central America, Movimiento de Jóvenes por el Agua (Youth Movement for Water, MOJA) and La Ruta del Clima (The Climate Route) and supported by GWP South America, UNICEF-Nicaragua, Reforestamos Mexico, and IUCN. 

GWP has sponsorship available for eligible participants to complete the online course in Integrated and Adaptive Water Resources Planning, Management and Governance offered by McGill University’s Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. Deadline to apply is 25 August 2016.

GWP is gearing up for its continued support to countries on climate change adaptation, leading towards the implementation of the Paris Agreement. GWP activities under the Global Water, Climate and Development Programme (WACDEP) aim to strengthen the resilience of countries to climate change, and more specifically support to countries will focus around the Nationally Determined Contributions, the National Adaptation Plan processes, South-South Cooperation, and financing.

GWP-Med, representing on occasion also GWP, has been contributing to the OECD Water Governance Initiative (WGI)[1] since its launch in 2013. In this framework, GWP-Med participated in the 7^th meeting of the WGI held on 23-24 June 2016, in The Hague, the Netherlands. The meeting brought together some 80 representatives of organizations and institutions, members to the Initiative.

To contribute to water security in the communities of Valle de Jiboa, El Salvador, where communities face water scarcity, the Association of Municipalities (MIJIBOA) and the Women's Network of Valle del Jiboa, in partnership with the National Foundation for Development (FUNDE), GWP Central America and Mexichem, installed 7 rainwater harvesting (RWH) systems between February to September 2017. The initiative had a gender focus, as the women of the area were an active part of the implementation of the project.

MENA Focus, a set of four regional sessions dedicated to the Middle East & North Africa, was officially launched at the Stockholm World Water Week 2016, alongside the Regional Days for Africa, Asia and Latin America. The Global Water Partnership – Mediterranean (GWP-Med) had been selected and serves as the overall coordinator for these “MENA Focus” events.
