An onsite meeting was attended by the main actors involved in the implementation of the demonstration project in order to assess the progress.
As of April 29, 2015, IRRIFASO has completed the installation of drip irrigation system. They also tested the system with the existing pump on site. The conclusion is that the system is operating normally, the pressure achieved was 0.3 bar considered to be sufficient for such a system.

 

The government of Lao PDR is working very constructively to improve the water resources planning and management system in Lao PDR especially in the formal higher education system.

Through the Lao Water Partnership, Mr. Chanthanet Boualapha, Director General of Department of Water Resources, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment who acts as chairperson of Lao Water Partnership opened the consultation on mainstreaming the IWRM in the formal higher education system. He expressed on the important of IWRM progress and application in Laos context for a decade as well as capacity building on this field. He also addressed the importance of the strengthening the local capacity in the whole country for IWRM decentralization and human resource development including emphasizing on integration and mainstreaming IWRM /IRBM approach into education system in each level.

 

 

 

 

 

A WACDEP Burkina team met on August 19 the AEN team to discuss a kick off project for the involvement of the CWP in the Master plan. The mission aimed also at starting anew the consultations for the development of bancable projects in the basin.

According the WACDEP manager the CWP support will focus on water resources and climate change. And in this context the CWP has already supported the AEN in the development of the Massili local water committee (CLE Massili), in the development of the SDAGE and bankable projects that address new issues.

In the framework of the campaign ÔVI (eau=vie / water=life) in Tunisian primary schools to raise awareness on water scarcity and the importance of water saving among the Tunisian youth, the Global Water Partnership - Mediterranean (GWP-Med), along the Enivronmental Commission of the District 414 of Lions Clubs International Association, is organising a youth workshop to celebrate World Water Day 2016, on Saturday 19 March, at the Hotel le Sultan, in Hammamet, in the North of Tunisia.

Over the years, the people of Seychelles have had an increased access to an improved drinking water source. Statistics show that access to water stood at 88.9% in 1990 and at 97 percent in 2010 respectively. Similarly, indicators of access to improved sanitation show an increase from 78% in 1994 to over 97% in 2012.

Upon finalization of the campaign ÔVI (eau=vie / water=life) that has been running throughout February and March in primary schools around Tunisia to raise awareness on water scarcity and the importance of water saving, the Global Water Partnership - Mediterranean (GWP-Med) celebrated the World Water Day by organizing a workshop on “Water, Youth and Employment” on Saturday, 19 March 2016, in Hammamet.

GWPSA facilitated the LIMCOM Technical Task Team Meeting that was held to develop the Limpopo River Basin IWRM Plan 2016-2020.  The workshop took place in Johannesburg on the 6^th and 7^th of April, 2016. The 2016-2020 plan follows the 2011-2015 IWRM LIMCOM Plan that came to an end in 2015 and had adopted a comprehensive approach to Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) through three strategic areas, namely: i) Water Governance, ii) Water Management and iii) Water Resources Development. It was against these areas that the new plan would be developed.
