World Water Day celebration in DOGBO

The Country Water Partnership of Benin (Benin CWP) marked the celebration of the 21th edition of the World Water Day (WWD) on March 22, 2013 by mobilizing stakeholders of the departments of Mono and Couffo around the international theme of "Water cooperation ".A radio debate to inform people about the topic was moderated by stakeholders involved in the commune of Lokossa in the presence of the Training and Communication Officer of CWP-Benin.

Provincial/River Basin Water Partnerships

GWP China has established the formal partnership cooperation relationship with over 100 water-related institutions and organizations, including the government institutions, civil societies, research institutions and universities. By the end of 2016, we have set up four provincial and one river basin water partnerships, equal to country water partnerships of GWP network as GWP China is recognized as a regional partnership. They are: GWP China Fujian, GWP China Hebei, GWP China Shaanxi, GWP China Yellow River and GWP China Hunan. In 2023, we established two committees, "the Belt and Road Working Committee" and "the Marine Professional Committee." In May 2024, the Professional Committee of Watershed Carbon Neutrality of GWP China was founded. In April 2025, we set up "the Professional Committee on Water Rights and Water Markets of the Global Water Partnership China".

Armenia: Local solutions for water management; The waste water treatment plant in Parakar village (#438)

In the village of Parakar, untreated wastewater contaminated agricultural lands, jeopardised food safety and posed severe health risks. In 2010, the Parakar community supported by partners from the Country Water Partnerships of Armenia initiated and developed a demonstration pilot project for domestic wastewater treatment. Particular attention was given to community involvement. This case illustrates the value of small scale solutions.

China: Yangtze River Basin Climate Change Adaptation and Vulnerability (#403)

The Yangtze River Basin has been severely affected by climate change. To address this, the Yangtze River Basin Climate Change Vulnerability and Adaptation Report has been drafted to evaluate the impact on representative ecosystems and water resources, and pinpoint adaptation strategies. The experience has demonstrated that good adaptation measures should consider not only climate itself, but also other factors, such as economy, technology, as well as social and cultural norms.

Uganda: How effective are environmental policies in Uganda? (#397)

Uganda is currently experiencing rapid depletion of water resources, which, in addition to ecological challenges, is leading to conflicts in some parts of the country. The Ugandan government has taken action and formulated policies and policy regimes to regulate land use and impacts on the environment. Despite the existence of laws and regulations, this case study illustrates the discrepancy between policy formulation and the reality of implementation on the ground.
