With a surface area of 27,834 square km², Burundi is located between the 29° and 30°25 eastern meridians and between the 2°20 and 4°25 southern parallels. Burundi’s population is estimated at 8 million inhabitants. 

GWP-SEA  further operates through relations with accredited Country Water Partnerships (CWP), and other separate co-operating entities that have  been given a role in the  Regional Water Partnership (RWP) in accordance with GWP-SEA Statute.

GWP-Med is active on a range of work agendas, reflecting priorities of the GWP Strategy, and responding to needs of Mediterranean countries

GWP was founded in 1996 to foster integrated water resources management (IWRM), defined as a process which promotes the coordinated development and management of water, land and related resources in order to maximise economic and social welfare in an equitable manner without compromising the sustainability of vital ecosystems.

GWP is a global action network. Its chief focus is to support social change processes that further the sustainable management and development of water resources. To do this, the network invites like-minded organisations to join this global movement.

The Global Water Partnership Eastern Africa recently organised a workshop in Mombasa with a team of environmental experts and civil society members from the region to develop climate change adaptation strategies.

The Way Water Cries, the first documentary series about water issues in China, was broadcasted on CCTV-News Channel during prime time 14-21 October.
