Capacity Building for Planners, Water Managers and Water Operators in Addressing Climate Change Impacts In Indonesia

 

Water resources are sensitive to variation in climatic pattern. Climate change is likely to intensify extreme weather event including droughts, floods and tropical storms. It is a fact in Indonesia that sustainability of freshwater is already threatened by severe watershed degradation, pollution, and over-allocation. Furthermore climate change will aggravate these threats to a point of irreversibility if no counter measures.

1st World Summit on Leaving No One Behind

The 1st World Water Summit on Leaving No One Behind will look to find ground-breaking technical and governance solutions for the topic of “Leaving No One Behind”, bringing governance leaders and funding agencies together. The Summit aims to fill a need that is not yet met by other water conferences and provides a kick-off event as part of the 2019 UN-Water campaign on this theme. It is held 7-8 February in Geneva, Switzerland.

GWP Chair - Dr. Oyun Sanjaasuren

Dr. Oyun Sanjaasuren is the appointed Chair of GWP, effective July 1, 2016. Dr. Oyun is a former Member of Parliament of Mongolia, former Minister of Environment and Green Development, and former Minister of Foreign Affairs. She currently serves as President of the United Nations Environment Assembly of UNEP.

Capacity Development for Climate Resilience in Africa

GWP’s Water, Climate and Development Programme for Africa (WACDEP), in collaboration with the UNDP-UNEP led National Adaptation Plan Global Support Programme (NAP-GSP) recently arranged a Training of Trainers (ToT) workshop. The topic was the ‘Economics of Adaptation Water Security, and Climate Resilient Development’.

GWP Campaign for Water Goal Kicks Off

February 2nd, 2015 - The Global Water Partnership (GWP) has launched a campaign today, to maintain a dedicated water goal on the United Nations (UN) Post-2015 Development Agenda. All thirteen (13) Regional Water Partnerships of the GWP which includes, the Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C), is a part of this global campaign.

Rainwater Harvesting (RWH) Project in Haiti

GWP-C is collaborating with its Partner, Haiti Survie to establish a community Rainwater Harvesting (RWH) system in a water scare community in the country. The project began on April 1st, 2019 and is scheduled to be completed by July 31st, 2019.

The Global Water Partnership (GWP) will hold its "Follow the Sun" Network Meeting from June 25th - 26th, 2019. All 13 regions of the GWP which includes GWP-C, will participate in this online Meeting.
