We are happy to announce the 5 winners of the gender case study competition, launched in June by GWP and the #IWRMActionHub. The case studies demonstrate how gender equality and inclusion have been improved in water management and climate resilience actions in the Pan African region.
The Global Water Partnership Southern Africa (GWPSA) played a key role in the Drought Resilience +10 Conference held from 30 September to 2 October 2024 in Geneva. Building on the outcomes of the first High-Level Meeting on National Drought Policies in 2013, the conference focused on accelerating actions to build drought resilience worldwide. It gathered countries, experts, and practitioners to review progress in drought management and outline a collective path forward.
On Friday, 30 June 2023, the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) Secretariat handed over a climate-smart agriculture pilot project to Metsimotlhabe Community Trust in Botswana. The project was officially handed over to the community by Mr. Nchidzi Mmolawa, Deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Lands and Water Affairs, who was the Guest of Honour at the event.

The inability to cope with the situation has even led to the overthrow of the governments in Mali and Burkina. These two countries are the centre of the terrorist hydra in the Sahel.
On October 12, 13 and 14, 2023, the Ministry of the Environment, Water and Sanitation organized the Forum on IWRM implementation in Burkina Faso. The event, held under the patronage of Burkina Faso's Prime Minister, brought together over 400 participants from all levels of IWRM implementation in the country.
