As a global action network, GWP reaches out to a wide range of stakeholders in order to bring about changes to the way water resources are managed. Ideally, institutions join GWP as a Partner in order to enjoy the full range of benefits. It is possible that some institutions are not able to join. Nevertheless, GWP still wants to work in close partnership with as many institutions as possible that share our vision for a water secure world. To that end, we have Strategic Allies. We work with some of them informally, with others we have a formal Memoradum of Understanding (MoU documents are listed in the right-hand column). Below, a list of GWP's global Strategic Allies.

Institutional Partners are the basis on which the GWP network operates. Becoming a Partner brings with it several benefits to get the most out of the GWP network.

The GWP Network comprises 13 Regional Water Partnerships. A Regional Water Partnership is comprised of all GWP Partners in a region. Representatives of Partners in a region may be a member of the regional Steering Committee (or equivalent).

GWP-Southeast Asia mission is to encourage, support, facilitate member countries network in achieving water security through the implementation of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) approach.

GWP Med invites all the organisations who are committed to the sustainable management of the world's water resources and sharing the same values with us to become active partners of our extended network, so that you can keep up-to-date on water issues and help to create a water secure world.

Sustainable Sanitation in Central and Eastern Europe: Addressing the Needs of Small and Medium-Size Settlements, English version

From 2007, the annual Southern African Development Community (SADC) Multi-Stakeholder Water Dialogues, organised by GWP Southern Africa on behalf of the SADC Water Division, have informed action plans at regional, river basin, national and local levels. Although the Dialogues encourage cross-sectoral integration, until now they have largely been regarded as meetings for 'water people'.

As part of ongoing national policy dialogues in Egypt and Lebanon within the framework of MED-EUWI and the GEF MedPartnership, GWP Mediterranean and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) assessed issues for governments to consider regarding private sector investment in the water sector.

GWP Mediterranean promotes rainwater harvesting (RWH) as a way to manage drought on islands in the region. RWH can help islands become more water secure and adapt to climate change.
