Summer School 2023 will open doors to the next generation of young water professionals from 2-8 July in Prague, Czechia to explore the benefits of Natural Small Water Retention Measures for Sustainable Water Management.
Nineteen Global Water Partnership Southern Africa (GWPSAF) stakeholders from Lesotho’s ReNOKA Programme, which translates to ‘We are a River”, on a recent learning visit to Tanzania and Kenya have hailed the lessons learnt on the trip as critical in the implementation of various initiatives of the ReNOKA Programme.
The Minister of Justice and Legislation, Keeper of the Seals, proceeded to the signing ceremony and the official handing over of the framework agreement protocols with the Country Water Partnership (CWP) of Benin and 18 other structures on Thursday 19 January 2023.
Kamuisa village in Dedza district is just a few meters from Lake Malawi, the fifth largest freshwater body in the world, and yet the community could not produce enough food to last all year round. The community could not cultivate enough during the rainy season and did not have the infrastructure to collect water from the lake. The Southern African Development Community (SADC) Secretariat came in to support the community to establish a climate-resilient water, energy, and food nexus project that would utilise water from the lake for irrigation of various crops and domestic use.
GWP is announcing an important change in how we answer the question, “How many GWP Partners are there?” The new answer is: “2800+ registered partners – but the real number is significantly higher than that.”
