This week in Midrand (9-13 November), South Africa, the Global Water Partnership's five Africa regional offices and its Mediterranean one are working with key allies to translate Africa's commitments on water into action. At the top of the agenda is financing water infrastructure, water supply and sanitation and climate change adaptation.
In 2004, with help from the Zambia Water Partnership, the Zambian Government began developing an Integrated Water Resources and Water Efficiency Plan for sustainable management of the country’s water resources.
The International Conference of World Ecoculture and Environment Education was jointly held by the Institute of World Literature and the Center and Cross-Cultural Studies of Peking University, GWP China, Global Citizens of Sustainable Development of India and Gutenburg University Mainz of Germany from August 14 to 20, 2009.

The training and workshop were an answer to regional and country needs of newly established River Basin Councils. The Centre of Cooperation for Sustainable Development (CCSD) requested GWP to provide assistance in the development of manual: Decision making procedures at River Basin levels and building capacities of River Basin Councils.
Home to a quarter of the world’s population, South Asia is endowed with vast water resources with potential for high economic development. However spatial and temporal factors in distribution subject the region to water related disasters such as droughts, floods and storm surges, which are increasingly compounded by climate change and global warming.
GWP partners with more than 2,800 registered organisations that share its aims and values in tackling the sustainable development, management, and use of water resources. Partners share information and experiences, and draw on each other for advice and assistance.
