A few weeks after the closing workshop for phase 2 of the TONFUTURTONCLIMAT project in Tanguiéta, the Kaba Hotel in Natitingou hosted the launch workshop for the "Strengthening Climate Resilience and Water Security for Young People and Women for Sustainable Management of the Tchoutchoubou River in the Pendjari sub-basin of Benin" project on Tuesday 30 May 2023.

GWP-C BRINGS HOPE TO MT. GRANBY AND MT. NESBIT-COMMISSIONING STATE OF THE ART WATER SYSTEM.

Approximately 150 households within the Mt Granby and Mt Nesbit communities in St. John’s, are poised to benefit from enhanced access to water, following the commissioning of a refurbished Community Water System. This initiative marks a significant milestone for the Global Water Partnership-Caribbean and the organisation's ongoing efforts to ensure a water secure Caribbean. Water scarcity has long been a pressing issue in these two communities, because of the old leaky pipes which resulted in increased abstraction of water from the source and reduction in the flow of water into the stream it feeds. This has impacted daily life and economic activities including agriculture, health, and overall quality of life of community members.

Framework for the implementation of the IWRM approach in Niger

Niger is a Sahelian country, which faces several major challenges. These mutually reinforce each other to aggravate the already precarious socio-economic situation of the country. Thus, we note the persistence of the effects of climate change, the challenges related to the problems of regional insecurity in the Sahel, leading in particular to massive displacements of populations and disturbances in the implementation of sectoral policies.

We are concerned about the recent series of articles published by Svenska Dagbladet (SvD) regarding the Global Water Partnership (GWP). While we respect the role of investigative journalism, these articles present an unfair and misleading portrayal of our organisation.
