Following the workshop to re-launch the PANGIRE Steering Committee held on August 17 and 18 in Cotonou, the Benin Water Directorate, with the technical and financial support of Global Water Partnership West Africa (GWP-WA) and the Benin Country Water Partnership (CWP-Benin) through the Water, Climate, Development and Gender Equality Program (WACDEP-G), launched the work of the workshop of extended consultation of national actors for the assessment of the 2nd phase of the National Action Plan for Integrated Water Resources Management (PANGIRE) of Benin and Proposals of actions for the 3rd phase.
The World Meteorological Organisation (WMO), the Volta Basin Authority (VBA) and the Global Water Partnership (GWP) West Africa have implemented the VFDM project entitled "Integrating flood and drought management and early warning for climate change adaptation in the Volta Basin" from June 2019 to June 2024. This project is financed by the Adaptation Fund.

Opened in Niamey on 02 March 2023, the national workshop was jointly organised by the Ministry of Water and Sanitation of Niger and the Secretariat of the Convention (UNECE). The governments of Malawi, Tanzania, and Mozambique signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the joint management and development of the Ruvuma/Rovuma River Basin, a transboundary river basin traversing across the three SADC member states. Ministers of Water from the three member states; Hon. Abida Mia from Malawi, Hon. Carlos Alberto Fortes Mesquita from Mozambique, and Hon. Jumas Hamidu Aweso from Tanzania, signed the MoU on behalf of their countries.
