Supply and installation of Smart Irrigation System for the ACCISI-GEM Project in Ghar El Melh - “Adapting to Climate Change Impacts through Smart Irrigation in Ghar El Melh wetland area, Tunisia”
The 8th Africa Water Week (AWW8) and the 6th Africa Conference on Sanitation and Hygiene (AfricaSan6) are being jointly organised this year as a virtual conference on 22-26 November. Joined together as the Africa Water and Sanitation Week (AWSW), the conference is convened by the African Ministers Council on Water (AMCOW) in conjunction with the African Union Commission and organised with other development partners.
The President of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council, H.E. Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi, on 11 March 2022 formally launched the Zanzibar Water Investment Programme, which will mobilise over USD665.5million between 2022-2027 towards securing clean and sustainable water supply for the island’s population and fast-growing economy.
Droughts are a major challenge facing several parts of the world. GWP is working with many partners to provide knowledge that countries can act on in response to these crises.
It’s been called the African COP, the Adaptation COP, the Implementation COP, the Solutions COP, and the Development COP. Clearly, there is a lot riding on the 27th Conference of the Parties (COP27) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) this 6–18 November. It marks the 30th anniversary of the Convention’s adoption, but also a new and difficult phase in global climate action.
Four concept notes that would ultimately be developed into full proposals were chosen during the second round of screening of the South Asia Youth Water Challenge 2023, which was held on 28 June 2023.
