Launch of the reforestation campaign by the #TFTC 2 Project in Benin

The project team of TonFuturTonClimat of Benin has officially launched the reforestation actions by the Mayor of Tanguieta (in northern Benin) in the presence of the Executive Secretary of CWP-Benin, the heads of the Local Committee of Water (CLE), the departmental forestry officer, the communal unit of the territorial agency of agricultural development and several other guests.

GWP at COP27, the 2022 UN Climate Change Conference in Egypt

It’s been called the African COP, the Adaptation COP, the Implementation COP, the Solutions COP, and the Development COP. Clearly, there is a lot riding on the 27th Conference of the Parties (COP27) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) this 6–18 November. It marks the 30th anniversary of the Convention’s adoption, but also a new and difficult phase in global climate action.

Closing meeting of the TFTC 2 project in Benin

The closing workshop of phase 2 of the TonFuturTonClimat project in Benin was held on 28 March 2023 in Tanguiéta. The country project "Mobilisation of youth associations for a better management of water resources in the Tchoutchoubou micro-basin in the Pendjari basin" aimed at improving the sustainable management of natural and related resources in the Tchoutchoubou micro-basin in the Pendjari sub-basin through a strong involvement of youth.

Curbing Unregulated River Sand Mining in Sri Lanka

As the world’s cities experience rapid growth, the global construction industry has been expanding exponentially. As a result, the demand for and price of river sand, which is the favoured natural material to produce mortar and concrete, has also increased. In Sri Lanka in particular, demand has been rising since the early 1990s, and has taken a notable leap since the 2004 tsunami. GWP Sri Lanka and its partners successfully contributed to a better regulated river sand mining sector.
