Sanitation and Water for All (SWA) together with GWP, UNICEF and WaterAid are co-convening a 3-part webinar series to strengthen partners’ knowledge of and capacity to integrate water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) and climate policies, plans, action, and financing. The Volta Flood and Doright Management (VFDM) project held two national training workshops on Gender mainstreaming in End-to-End Early Warning System for flood forecasting and integrated flood risk management in the volta basin on 11 to 14 October 2021 in Wa and from 18 to 21 October 2021 in Tamale, Northern Ghana.

An assessment report on the status of Hygiene and Basic sanitation (HBS) in Benin from 2010 to 2020 shows that the Government is paying less attention to HBS compared to the water subsector and the ministry of Health is not doing the required actions. This report was validated by the twenty participants, actors of the sector and coming from various horizons to the workshop organized for this purpose, on September 24, 2021.

Mindful of the SDG 6.5.1 reporting deadline of July 31st, GWP-CAf and its five CWPs have been fully engaged with country focal points to ensure that the ongoing monitoring and reporting process is conducted as per the UNEP guidelines.
GWP and Wuhan International Water Law Academy are co-organising an interactive online series called the "Transboundary freshwater security governance train". The sessions are conducted in an approach of a ‘train’ stopping at various locations in the world. At each of the stops, a different topic from the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) for Governance for Transboundary Freshwater Security is explored. On 16 March, the 3rd session looks at river basin organisations and the implementation of legal commitments.
With hand-washing as one of the top recommendations to hinder the spread of COVID-19, the lack of access to clean water and sanitation in many parts of the world is being reported on extensively in media. Water management, and in particular the impact of climate change on water resources, has come to the fore. In recent years, GWP has collaborated with UNICEF on this issue, developing a Strategic Framework for Climate Resilience and WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), including a Help Desk that is being developed to support users of the Framework.
