At GWP CEE, we are looking for a new colleague to grow our team and support our goals as a new Project Manager.

It’s been called the African COP, the Adaptation COP, the Implementation COP, the Solutions COP, and the Development COP. Clearly, there is a lot riding on the 27th Conference of the Parties (COP27) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) this 6–18 November. It marks the 30th anniversary of the Convention’s adoption, but also a new and difficult phase in global climate action.

The first platform with harmonized data for the Drin River’s environment, societies and economies has just been launched. The Integrated Management System is a free online tool available to all that allows regular information exchange among competent institutions in the Drin basin, facilitating effective transboundary cooperation.

Kenneth Alfaro Alvarado is Project Cooridinator for Water Pollution Prevention at Nicoya Peninsula Waterkeeper in Costa Rica. The non-profit organisation has been a GWP Partner since 2013 - their motivation to join the GWP network was a wish to participate in the processes around Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM). The Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) Young Caribbean Water Entrepreneurs Shark Tank Competition, provides a unique opportunity for young persons from the Caribbean, aged 18 to 34 years, to pitch innovative and impactful water-related projects or ideas to support better water resources management in their community, country or the Caribbean region.

Real Water Savings (REWAS) in agriculture online training for Indonesia was the latest collaboration between GWP-SEA Regional Secretariat and FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific. Real Water Savings (REWAS) is a simple tool to estimate the potential for generating real water savings from various agronomic, water management and technical practices in irrigated agriculture. The tool was developed by Future Water as part of RAP’s developing regional program on water scarcity in Asia and the Pacific. So far successful trainings have been held in Nepal, Viet Nam, Malaysia, Thailand and Iran, with very positive feedback from participants.

The first United Nations conference on water since 1977 will be held at the United Nations HQ from 22-24 March 2023. This will be a watershed moment for the sustainable development community as a whole, and GWP, as a leading authority on water governance, is committed to playing an active role in advancing the global water agenda.

The successful candidate will be hired by the Mediterranean Information Office for Environment, Culture and Sustainable Development (MIO-ECSDE), a civil non-profit society based in Greece, in its capacity as Host Institute for GWP-Med.

The Government of Eswatini has applauded the use of an integrated approach to planning and implementation of projects in the water, energy and food sectors, stating that this would help accelerate the pace at which meaningful development would be achieved.
