ROSA Wash Climate Resilience Training: 16-18 July, Nepal

A climate resilient WASH and Climate financing training is scheduled to be held from 16-18 July in Kathmandu, Nepal convened by UNICEF Regional Office for South Asia (ROSA). It is a collaboration between UNICEF ROSA, UNICEF Headquarters (Water and Climate Team), and the Global Water Partnership (GWP).

The training is being organised to develop the capacity of WASH Practitioners in the region on climate resilience and financing. Basis of the training is the Strategic Framework for WASH climate resilience developed by GWP and UNICEF. The training will also cover the important aspects of climate financing and options for accessing climate-related WASH funding, providing an opportunity to scale up Climate related WASH programming in ROSA. The training will also mark the kick-off for the “help desk” function of the GWP-UNICEF Global Collaboration. Through this, technical and climate fundraising (e.g. development of climate proposals) support will be available to country offices of UNICEF HQ/RO and GWP.

During the training, and to foster the spread of experiences and lessons learned a specific session will be dedicated to present main UNICEF and GWP climate resilient WASH initiatives in the region. The workshop will culminate with the initial steps to develop action plans for each of the participant countries.

The training is open to UNICEF WASH specialist and officers as well as programme specialist working on climate change issues. UNICEF country offices will bring key governmental stakeholders from line ministries. While only a limited number of places is available, the invitation to the training is also extended to GWP South Asia Country Coordinators who are expected to coordinate the upcoming UNICEF-GWP interventions.
