GWP China’s host institution, the China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research (IWHR), celebrated its 60th anniversary with a week of academic sessions in Beijing, China. On 18 October, an international high-level forum was held on the topic of Modern Water Governance and Technological Innovation. Around 1000 guests were invited, including GWP representatives from its worldwide network.
The Central African Republic Country Water Partnership held its General Assembly and the Steering Committee Meeting on November 27 and 28 respectively in Bangui.
GWP is co-convenor of a Virtual Workshop on legal frameworks for transboundary water cooperation, held on 28-29 July. The UNECE-led event is tailored to support the preparation of a checklist to assist countries and/or other relevant stakeholders in the design and drafting of agreements.
As leader of Communication and Dissemination in the Horizon 2020 REXUS project, GWP-Med participated in the NexusNet Cost Action Stakeholder’s Forum on Nexus implementation in South Europe, and reports on the results.
To effectively and efficiently support GWP Central Africa and its partners in implementing the Gender Equality in Water Security and Climate Resilient Development Programme (WACDEP-G) in Central Africa, as well as in mainstreaming gender in its work, GWP-CAf is recruiting a full time Gender and Water Advisor who will work with the GWP-CAf regional secretariat in Yaoundé.
Gender equality and sustainable development are inseparable. Addressing gender inequalities —including access to and control over natural resources— accelerates the impact of policies connected to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
