Final report of the regional consultation on Valuing Water in Johannesburg, South Africa, 30 May 2017.

To share its experience on dental fluorosis in the Far North region of Cameroon, the Cameroon Country Water Partnership (GWP-Cmr) has published a technical note in French titled « La Fluorose Dentaire: Une Menace encore méconnue de la Santé publique au Cameroun»

Darío Soto-Abril is the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Global Water Partnership, a global action network focused on the sustainable management of water resources.

San Juan Olintepeque is a rural municipality located in the Department of Quetzaltenango in the Western Highlands of Guatemala.  44% of its territory is covered by an oak-pine forest (136.15 km2), which is managed by the municipality’s Forest Office. The water supply in the municipality is mainly through mechanical wells. Deforestation has impacts not only on energy availability but on water availability and the hydrological cycle.  

Using the key IWRM challenges identified in Stage 1, the aim of this stage is to facilitate a government-led multi-stakeholder process to formulate and prioritise appropriate responses to those challenges. The result of Stage 2 is typically an IWRM Action Plan (the name might be adapted for each country), which includes a series of attractive investment opportunities to systematically guide the implementation of solutions to IWRM challenges.

GWP is organising a one-day event together with the Department for International Development of the United Kingdom (DfID) and the Institute for Sustainable Futures of the University of Technology of Sydney (ISF-UTS) to discuss the mainstreaming of gender-equality issues in water-related policies, development and investment programmes.

In Somalia, water is life - literally. It is also a country where much is happening today. The one-person-one-vote election to take place in early 2021 will be a historic milestone in the country’s road back to security, stability, and wellbeing. The economy is growing, driven by increased confidence, reforms, and bank development, and the business community is resilient, globally connected, and entrepreneurial. New opportunities for economic cooperation and integration on the Horn of Africa plays to the country’s advantage. Still, water remains a critical factor in Somalia’s development pathway. It is a water scarce country, at risk of climate related variability, and has to improve its capacity to manage water well in coming years.

To date more than 80 CCA Training Programmes were held with more than 3,450 participants out of which 2,275 were Farmer Leaders and farmers.
