GWP and Cap-Net, with the support of UNEP and UNDP, implemented a pilot project from 2020 – 2022 to help countries protect and restore freshwater ecosystems, with a focus on capacity-development, action planning through multi-stakeholder engagement, and integration of environmental data within relevant decision-making processes.

By the end of 2020, GWP PAN-Asia has successfully implemented the PAN-ASIA SDG Learning Exchange on Monitoring and Reporting of SDG Indicator 6.5.1 Degree of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) Implementation. The report has been finalized in 2021 and therefore the network discussed the outreach Plan of the report, as well as another regional agendas.
A technical workshop was held from 20 October to 3 November 2022 in Koubri to finalize the modules and other materials for the 5th online course. The distance or e-learning includes different courses covering the whole value chain of the end-to-end early warning system for flood forecasting (E2E-EWS-FF) and the three pillars of drought management. Four online courses have already been organized from September 2021 to November 2022.
Kenya Water Partnership coordinated the development of a Catchment-wide Action Plan for the Protection and Conservation of the Ewaso Ng’iro North River Basin. The action planning is part of the pilot project launched by UNEP, GWP and Cap-Net focusing on three target countries (Kenya, Kazakhstan and Argentina)
