New non-conventional water resources solutions completed in Malta by Alter Aqua project

A historical reservoir of 800,000 litres was restored for rainwater harvesting to service the sustainable development vision of Birgu City, which becomes Malta’s first Water Saving City, marking 10 years of collaboration between GWP-Med, The Coca-Cola Foundation, Malta’s Ministry for Energy, Enterprise and Sustainable Development, the Energy and Water Agency and local stakeholders. Over 10 years, non-conventional water resources applications under the Alter Aqua programme have saved more than 20 million litres of water annually, benefiting 20% of Malta’s population.

El lanzamiento tiene lugar en relación con los Días Regionales de GWP (31 de mayo al 3 de junio), una reunión anual del personal de GWP en todo el mundo. El nuevo sitio web es un lugar para capturar la celebración colectiva de lo que la red ha logrado hasta ahora y para mirar hacia el futuro. GWP SAS Water Academy for Youth (WAY) 2022

GWP SAS WAY Programme is planned from 25 September to 30 November 2022 with the theme “Riverscapes and Riverine Ecosystems”. We are calling applications from eligible youth (18-35 years old) from the region to participate to the training.

Inclusive and integrative investment projects key to development in the SADC region

Integrative and inclusive investment project planning at the transboundary and regional levels is critical in the response to challenges and catalysing development in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region. This was one of the key issues raised at the transboundary water management session convened by the Lesotho ICM project and Partners at the Stockholm World Water Week (WWW) on 30 August in Stockholm, Sweden.
