World Water Day will be commemorated on March 22nd, as it has been since 1993. The day is dedicated to emphasize the value of freshwater. UN-Water is leading a campaign to make groundwater visible in 2022. Although groundwater may be out of sight, its impact is visible everywhere.
The Transboundary Freshwater Security Governance Train continues its journey in 2022 on 16 February, with its 10th interactive session in the series. This time, the event explores how the design of Transboundary Water Agreements affects their performance and whether there are key ingredients that should structure these agreements.

The 12th online interactive session explores the ways how to better involve indigenous people in the governance of transboundary waters and practical examples of the role of indigenous people in transboundary water management.

The SDG 6 IWRM Support Programme as implemented in Senegal through the "Initiative to support the acceleration of the implementation of the IWRM Action Plan - PAGIRE 2018-2030 of Senegal" by the MINISTRY OF WATER AND SANITATION through the Directorate of Water Resources Management and Planning (DGPRE) in collaboration with the Country Water Partnership of Senegal (PNES).
The Chad Country Water Partnership (GWP-Tchad) becomes the 5th and final Country Water Partnership within the GWP- Central Africa Network to be accredited.
The countries of the world have jointly committed to achieve the SDGs through the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, including the SDG #6 on water and sanitation, central to achieve the other SDGs, particularly related to agriculture, energy, disaster resilience, health, environment and ecosystems, economic growth, and SDG #16 on promoting peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development.
The Benin WACDEP-G team together with the CWP hold on 7 December 2021 a workshop to validate the report on the development of a shared vision on gender transformative approach in Benin. The event took place in Grand Popo with main partners including the Directorate general of environment and climate (DGEC), the FNEC, the NDA, focal points of various ministries, CSOs in gender promotion and consultants.
CWP Benin and WACDEP-G team held on December 9 and 10, 2021 in Natitingou in Northern Benin, a workshop to encourage local stakeholders in the national part of the Volta Basin to improve practices, attitudes, behaviors, social norms, belief systems and regulations in order to promote gender-transformative investments in water security and climate resilience.
The regional project manager #YourFutureYourClimate (TonFuturTonClimat) and the communication officer made field visits to Togo and Benin to monitor the implementation of this project funded by the Government of Quebec, GWP, ISW and its partners. It is implemented in the countries by CWP Benin, CWP Burkina and the NGO YVE in Togo under the regional coordination of GWP-WA and ISW.
