Growing out of the first Earth Day in 1970, EARTHDAY.ORG is working with more than 75,000 partners in over 190 countries to drive positive action for our planet. In response to many requests, we have decided to extend the deadline for the Water ChangeMaker Awards with one week - to 14 June 2020 by midnight CEST - to give those who have not yet finalized their submissions a chance to participate.
Eight African entries have qualified in the semi-finals of the Water ChangeMaker Awards, which were launched by GWP and partners in 2020 to recognise the teams and organisations who shape water decisions that build climate resilience.
The World Meteorological Organization (WMO), the Volta Basin Authority (VBA) and Global Water Partnership West Africa (GWP-WA) in collaboration with the CIMA Research Foundation are conducting the process of capacity building, data collection and development of flood and drought risk maps in the Volta Basin.
The regional project manager #YourFutureYourClimate (TonFuturTonClimat) and the communication officer made field visits to Togo and Benin to monitor the implementation of this project funded by the Government of Quebec, GWP, ISW and its partners. It is implemented in the countries by CWP Benin, CWP Burkina and the NGO YVE in Togo under the regional coordination of GWP-WA and ISW.
