The case study was developed as part of the global Water, Climate and Development Programme (WACDEP) that was formally introduced in 2014 in the Southeast Asia Region, and finalized by the second quarter of 2018.
As one of the GWP-SEA country members, Malaysia Water Partnership has been committed to supporting the implementation of WACDEP. Several activities were carried out to support the country’s commitment to addressing the issues of floods and climate change resilience. One of the activities during the first phase of WACDEP is ‘Community flood-proofing and adaptation for climate resilience’ that was done through the demonstration project. In 2020, Global Water Partnership (GWP) in collaboration with The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) as the custodian agency, which coordinates reporting on SDG 6.5.1 indicator, together with UNEP-DHI Centre and Cap-Net, operates the SDG 6 IWRM Support Programme, to support 60 countries in implementing the survey. For the PAN Asia region, the reports have successfully submitted and it is now the time to find out the lesson learned behind the process.
