The ECOWAS water governance director at the Water Resources Management Center (WRMC), Mr. Bougonou K. DJERI-ALASSANI together with GWP-WA Executive Secretary, Mr. Armand HOUANYE had a virtual meeting on June 19, 2020 with the Director of Water Resources Management Planning, Mr. Niokhor NDOUR and the chair of the Country Water Partnership of Senegal, Dr. Adrien COLY.
“I want to invite all of you today to focus on partnerships because of the importance of tackling the biggest challenge with water – whether it’s scarcity, floods, climate patterns – is working together,” says GWP Executive Secretary Darío Soto-Abril in his message for World Water Day from Dakar, Senegal, where he is participating in the 9th World Water Forum.
Global Water Partnership had its online ‘Follow the Sun’ consultation on 25-26 June for all regions. Each region had two hours starting with GWP Southern Africa at 12:00 to 14:00 on 25 June and ending with GWP Eastern Africa at 15:00 to 17:00 on 26 June 2019. GWP West Africa had its regional consultation on 26 June 2019 from 10:00 to 12:00 with two country sites (Abidjan and Abuja) participating. Conakry and Banjul could not join because of technical issues related to internet connection on these sites.
The Government of Zanzibar has signed a bilateral agreement with the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany for EURO 660,000 as part of support to the Zanzibar Water Investment Programme.
