For seven years, the Kazakh-German University (KGU) has been annually holding an Olympiad in the field of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) among students from Central Asian countries. Since last year, the University has expanded the subject matter of the Olympiad and conducts it within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) developed by the UN.
An innovative first of its kind workshop for Albania on Wastewater Management in the context of Circular Economy was organised in July 2022. It provided participants with a 360o view on the benefits and opportunities for synergies across sectors in the proper management of Wastewater.
Participants in the 1st Multi-Stakeholders Consultation Meeting on the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems (WEFE) Nexus organised on the framework of the "GEF/UNEP MedProgramme: Enhancing Environmental Security", acknowledged the need for a better integration of approaches related to the four sectors, including through the establishment of a systematic dialogue among the relevant actors.
The Masungi Georeserve was announced winners of the Water ChangeMaker Awards in a ceremony at the Climate Adaptation Summit on 25 January. The High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) is the core United Nations platform for follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The 2021 edition takes place on 6-15 July. GWP Executive Secretary Darío Soto-Abril will address a SDG 6 Special Event in connection to the HLPF on 9 July.
