A two-day regional meeting to present the floods and drought risk maps and climate scenarios for the Volta Basin was held in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire on 20 and 22 December 2021 to get useful feedbacks from national and regional stakeholders for their final improvement and finalization.
3rd Regional Partners' Meeting of GWP China opened a new page in addition to 'a regional partnership of GWP' under the witness of the Ministry of Water Resources and the Ministry of Civil Affairs in 2016. From then on, GWP China had an independent legal status titled "China Water Resources Strategic Studies" in Chinese and "GWP China" in English.

The Masungi Georeserve was announced winners of the Water ChangeMaker Awards in a ceremony at the Climate Adaptation Summit on 25 January. The Department of Agriculture, Water Resources and Environment of the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU/UEMOA) Commission in collaboration with Global Water Partnership West Africa (GWP-WA) held a virtual regional workshop on the theme of ''Water Governance and Sustainable Development Goals: progress and challenges at the local level in the WAEMU region''.
A workshop “Gender dimensions in the sustainable management of natural resources through a Nexus approach in the Drina River Basin” was held online on June 23 2021. Approximately 80 stakeholders from Ministries, local NGOs, Nexus related institutions and agencies and academia from the Drina River Basin joined the workshop that focused on the interplay between sustainable management of natural resources and gender in the three countries of the region: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Serbia.
