The SDG 6 IWRM Support Programme provides a self-paced online course on UNDP Cap-Net’s Virtual Campus for practitioners interested in designing and implementing action plans to improve Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in a multi-stakeholder process.
The 2nd Danube Floodplain (Online) Webinar was successfully held on 7 October 2021 with over 50 participants who actively engaged with questions and comments to the discussion.
To bridge the gap between the 2019 and 2021 Stockholm World Water Weeks, the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) invited convenors to host a virtual adaptation of their World Water Week 2020-approved sessions between 24 and 28 August. August 12 marks International Youth Day, and the 2021 edition has the theme, “Transforming Food Systems: Youth Innovation for Human and Planetary Health.” We spoke with youth in West and Southern Africa about their involvement in GWP activities around water and food. Efforts to strengthen the operational capacity of Country Water Partnerships (CWPs) in Southern Africa continued at a virtual workshop convened by GWPSA with support by GWP Organisation on 12 November.
The Regional Climate Weeks 2021 starts on 3-4 March with “Virtual Regional Roundtables” for all regions that are holding climate weeks in 2021. The regions are Africa (ACW2021), Asia-Pacific and Latin America (APCW2021) and the Caribbean (LACCW2021). The initial roundtables in March will set the scene in terms of regional priorities, challenges and opportunities for climate action.
A 3-part webinar series took place in February and March to highlight and clarify linkages between water and climate in national climate action plans, such as the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), the National Adaptation Plans (NAPs), and various investment mechanisms. “For me, the stories from countries were the best part. I think they speak to all of us and tell us what it's really like to change theory into implementation on the ground,” said Dani Gaillard-Picher, GWP Global Coordinator for Water and Climate Processes, in her summary of the series.
