The High-Level Experts and Leaders Panel on Water and Disasters (HELP) – Global Water Partnership (GWP) PAN ASIA Consultation Meeting: Draft Principles on Addressing Water-Related Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) During Covid-19 Pandemic

August 4 -- The High-Level Experts and Leaders Panel on Water and Disasters (HELP) was established to assist the international community, governments, and stakeholders in mobilizing political will and resources. HELP is committed to addressing water-related disaster risk reduction including the present challenge with the COVID-19 pandemic circumstances in hand. The consultation meeting was held to discuss and gain insights on how to practically implement key suggestions proposed in the HELP Principle to Address Water-related Disaster Risk Reduction under Covid-19 Pandemic. The consultation also aims exchanges among decision-makers, experts and practitioners in Asia region on how they can be better prepared for co-occurring disasters on water and health.

“If Nexus can succeed here, it can work anywhere”: The REXUS project is tackling Nexus challenges in ambitious pilot cases

GWP-Med is leading the “Pathways to Impact” Work Package in the Horizon 2020 REXUS project, coordinating communication and dissemination activities. The 1st plenary meeting, which took place on 21 and 27 October 2021, brought together more than 60 participants from over 20 institutions, sharing advances on various pieces of the REXUS ‘jigsaw puzzle’ which is coming together to create new blueprint for applying the Water-Energy-Food-Climate Nexus.

How Can Men and Women Be Better Allies to Women Colleagues in the Water Sector?

Water projects are six times more efficient when women are part of the team, and yet there are still massive gaps in employment of women within the water sector, particularly for jobs that are onsite or that require a strong science background. How can we help women colleagues join and stay in the water sector to ensure that water solutions are the best they can be and to help communities and the environment get the water they need to be resilient? On 22 September, Global Water Partnership, Community of Women in Water and World Bank Equal Aqua organise a virtual event on this topic.

A young ESUPJ student recalls a real schooling experience after an internship at GWP-WA

In this article, Abdoul Rachid Yohann FOFANA, a student at the Ecole Supérieure Polytechnique de la Jeunesse (ESUPJ), in his second year in the Civil Engineering program with a focus on Water Management and Control, describes his immersion experience at GWP-WA. The young Burkinabe completed a 2-month internship at the GWP-WA Executive Secretariat from July 29 to September 28, 2019.
