World Water Day is commemorated on 22 March - an annual UN observance to focus attention on the global water crisis. This year’s theme is 'Valuing Water', exploring what water means to people, its value and how we can protect this essential life resource. GWP South Asia, the global GWP office and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Government of Netherlands are organising a regional webinar on experiences and lessons at country level.

The Mekrou Project Phase 2 – Niger component has started an active implementation phase with the beginning of consulting missions for the operationalization of IWRM in the Mekrou sub-basin in Niger.

The Tisza Office of the Middle Tisza Water Directorate (KÖTIVIZIG) was ceremonially inaugurated on 4 November 2014. A 3-part webinar series took place in February and March to highlight and clarify linkages between water and climate in national climate action plans, such as the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), the National Adaptation Plans (NAPs), and various investment mechanisms. “For me, the stories from countries were the best part. I think they speak to all of us and tell us what it's really like to change theory into implementation on the ground,” said Dani Gaillard-Picher, GWP Global Coordinator for Water and Climate Processes, in her summary of the series.

The Water Resources Commission (WRC), in collaboration with Ghana Country Water Partnership, is undertaking a review of the IWRM Plans for the Tano and Pra Basins.

The Framework for Consultation of Non-State Actors in the Water and Sanitation Sector (CANEA) and the National Association of communes of Benin (ANCB) are advocating for better prioritization water and sanitation related issues in the communes.

The first meeting of the program coordinating committee was held in Cotonou on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, with the actors involved in the implementation of the WACDEP-G program in Benin.

On March 8th every year, the world celebrates the International Women's Day - a global day highlighting the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. It is also a day to mark the call to action for accelerating gender parity and raise awareness about women's rights.
