The 2019 United Nations Climate Change Conference, also known as COP25, will take place on 2-13 December, in Madrid, Spain. The conference is being held under the presidency of the Chilean government. GWP is an accredited IGO observer and will bring new water insights to the climate agenda.
On 5 November 2019, Partners of the Global Water Partnership (GWP) Southern Africa announced the new Chair of GWP Southern Africa and Africa Coordination Unit (GWPSA-ACU): His Excellency Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, former President of the United Republic of Tanzania. His Excellency Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete was the 4th President of the United Republic of Tanzania from 2005-2015.
In this article, Abdoul Rachid Yohann FOFANA, a student at the Ecole Supérieure Polytechnique de la Jeunesse (ESUPJ), in his second year in the Civil Engineering program with a focus on Water Management and Control, describes his immersion experience at GWP-WA. With the start of the activities of the Project "Integrating Flood and Drought Management and Early Warning for Climate Change Adaptation in the Volta Basin", a project implementation team is assessing the capacities and needs of national structures for flood and drought forecasting and warning.

GWP's new Strategy 2020-2025 was also launched at the event.

Budapest Water Summit 2019 took place on 15-17 October, and GWP took the opportunity to ask youth about their experience with GWP. Joanna O’Keefe from Poland said that GWP introduced her to a completely new world: “I knew scientific conferences, but now I also get involved with policy making events and political events.”
The 13th Steering Committee and the 6th General Assembly of GWP-CAf took place in Douala, Cameroon from the 30th of October to the 1st of November 2019 and brought together some 25 participants from Central African’s CWPs and representatives of the member organizations of the statutory bodies.
