“It began with passion and learning. When I was young, I wanted to be an engineer and then I wanted to teach. Putting these two interests together, I became a university teacher specialized in water resources engineering.” This is how Dr. Khin Ni Ni Thein’s professional journey with water started. Now, 42 years later and many experiences richer, she shares her career story in celebration of International Women’s Day (IWD2020).
In the period 2017-2020 Country Water Partnership-Armenia as a partner together with Urban Foundation for Sustainable Development and Yerevan State University Environmental Law Resource Centre undertook the implementation of USAID-funded “Participatory Utilization of Resource Efficiency of Water” Project/ PURE Water Project.
GWP-Med partnered with the International Centre for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA) to develop drought impact and vulnerability assessment for Tunisia in the framework of the Regional Drought Management System for Middle East & North Africa project (MENA-RDMS).
In 2020, Global Water Partnership (GWP) in collaboration with The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) as the custodian agency, which coordinates reporting on SDG 6.5.1 indicator, together with UNEP-DHI Centre and Cap-Net, operates the SDG 6 IWRM Support Programme, to support 60 countries in implementing the survey. For the PAN Asia region, the reports have successfully submitted and it is now the time to find out the lesson learned behind the process.
GWP's annual Network Meeting 2019 is coming up. Based on the successful participation of so many Partners at last year’s meeting, an online ‘Follow the Sun’ consultation will be held on 25-26 June. GWPSA's consultation will take place on the 25th June 2019 from 12:00-14:00.

At the heart of ADSW is the World Future Energy Summit, and The Water Forum, which brings the global water industry together to tackle the challenges of water scarcity. The dates for this are 13-16 January 2020.
Stockholm World Water Week (WWW) is an annual focal point for the globe’s water issues. It is organised by the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI). This year, the event takes place on 26-31 August. As in previous years, GWP will be involved in many of the sessions.
