GWP Seeks New Executive Secretary

April 8, 2020 – The Global Water Partnership (GWP) has begun a search for an Executive Secretary, its top executive position. Monika Weber-Fahr, the current Executive Secretary, announced in early March that she would step down effective June 30, 2020.

Interactive Online Session: International Water Law and Transboundary Groundwater

GWP and the International Water Law Academy (IWLA) of Wuhan University are co-organising an interactive online series called the "Transboundary Freshwater Security Governance Train". The series of online engagement sessions is conducted in an approach of a ‘train’ stopping at various locations around the world, focusing on topics related to transboundary freshwater security. At each stop, a different topic from the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) for Governance for Transboundary Freshwater Security is explored. The 6th and final session is on groundwater and the implementation of legal commitments, and it takes place on 15 June.

The GWP-CAf joined the 2nd "Follow the sun" experience

This year, the GWP network repeated the "Follow the Sun" experience, an online partner network meeting, after the success of last year. From 25th to 26th June 2019, all GWP regions were given the opportunity to express their views on the new GWP 2020-2025 strategy, for which they actively participated in the development.

Workshop-Introduction to the Climate-Land-Energy-Water (CLEWs) modelling framework and its use in the Nexus Assessment of the Drina River Basin

A two-day workshop on the Climate-Land-Energy-Water (CLEWs) modelling framework and its use in the Nexus Assessment of the Drina River Basin took place on 8,9 July 2021. The purpose of the workshop was to familiarise participants with the Climate, Land, Energy and Water systems (CLEWs) nexus methodology, used to quantitatively assess the energy-water interlinkages within the Nexus assessment of the Drina River Basin. By providing an overview of general concepts, tools used and hands-on experience on model building, the workshop opened the box of the modelling analysis to the audience and laid the ground for local uptake of the model infrastructure.

Strategic collaboration with key regional stakeholders

GWP-WA is developing fruitful collaboration ties with strategic partners in the region including with UEMOA in helping this regional economic community to implement part of its work plan focusing on IWRM and water related SDGs activities.
