The Young Caribbean Water Entrepreneurs Shark Tank is an initiative of the Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) and was first launched in 2019. The competition provides a unique opportunity for young persons from the Caribbean between the ages of 18 to 34 years, to pitch innovative and impactful water project ideas.
The Green Climate Fund (GCF) is the only financing mechanisms of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), which is exclusively dedicated to addressing the climate crisis. The GCF has a specific mandate to promote a country-driven, climate-resilient and low-carbon development. It is hoped that this will become the main channel through which international public funding for climate will flow over time.

GWP West Africa held its statutory meetings in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso from 23 to 26 September on the theme "Accelerating progress in IWRM implementation to achieve water-related SDGs in West Africa: challenges, innovative approaches and roles of partnerships". These include the meeting of the Budget and Finance Committee on 23 September; the Steering Committee on 24 September 2019; and the Assembly of Partners (AP) on 26 September 2019. On 25 September, the regional dialogue was held in collaboration with the Ministry of Water and Sanitation of Burkina Faso, the ECOWAS Water Resources Management Centre and the West African Monetary and Economic Union (UEMOA).
GWP's annual Network Meeting 2019 is coming up. Based on the successful participation of so many Partners at last year’s meeting, an online ‘Follow the Sun’ consultation will be held on 25-26 June. GWPSA's consultation will take place on the 25th June 2019 from 12:00-14:00.
A West Africa region team including participants from Water Resources Coordination Center (WRCC)/ ECOWAS, Volta Basin Authority (VBA) and Global Water Partnership-West Africa (GWP-WA) took part in a Technical Task Team Workshop on the setting up of the NEPAD PIDA Water Project - Support to project Preparation and Financing of PIDA Transboundary Water and Hydropower Projects and Africa Investments Programme 2019 – 2024. The workshop organized by NEPAD Planning and Coordinating Agency (NPCA), in collaboration with AMCOW, GWP and Partners was held on the 12th 2018 in Botswana, Gaborone.
Global Water Partnership Technical Committee (GWP TEC) and Global Water Partnership China Region (GWP China) will exchange experience regarding water sharing as well as river basin management in China on January 31 - February 1, 2018 in Beijing.
The Water and Climate Network of Central African Youth Organisations (RECOJAC) participated in the launch meeting of the 9th World Water Forum from 20th to 21st June 2019. The Youth network is recognized as a key regional network for supporting the preparation of the Forum.
