Since being adopted by the GWP network last year, the new GWP Strategy 2020-2025 – Mobilising for a Water Secure World – was launched at a series of events around the world throughout the second half of 2019. The strategy calls for urgent action on, and agile responses to, the world water crises.
Gender-specific information reported through a SDG 6.5.1 survey showed that gender-related aspects were among the least advanced among all aspects of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM). On 16 September, the SDG IWRM Support Programme is organising an online event to share learning experiences from the survey and discuss what actions to take to improve gender mainstreaming.
Rabia Faousia OUEDRAOGO is a young student at the International Institute for Water and Environmental Engineering (2IE), in her third year of a degree in Water and Sanitation, who completed an internship at the GWP-WA Regional Secretariat from January to March 2019. IHE Delft has held the 6th edition of the International Symposium on Knowledge and Capacity Development for the Water Sector. Due to the global coronavirus pandemic, the symposium – “From Capacity Development to Implementation Science” – was held online on 26-29 May, with around 500 participants from around the world. GWP is a Partner of the Symposium and hosted a session on ‘Reaching and engaging local communities.’ Recommendations from all sessions were fed into the Delft Agenda, finalised at the end of June and launched on 20 July.
