On November 24 and 25, 2021, took place the capacity building workshop of the executives in charge of planning and programming of the Ministries of Water, Living Environment and Sustainable Development, as well as some national and regional NGOs intervening in the water and climate sectors.
On 20 May, the President of the UN General Assembly, with the support of the Executive Secretary of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), will convene a High-level Dialogue to assess the progress made in the fight against drought, desertification and land degradation (DLDD). The National Directorate of Water (DNH) together with the CWP Mali organized on May 17, 2021 the validation workshop of the provisional report of the study on the status of the operation of the National Water Council (CNE) of Mali and the new draft text of the CNE.
On 29-31 March, a global workshop will be organised to take a holistic perspective on the impacts of climate change and extreme weather events on water resource management, both at national and transboundary level, and on water supply and sanitation systems and ultimately people's health.
In 2020, the Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) began supporting the Government of the Dominican Republic (DR) to develop estimates of increased risk of flooding and landslides due to rainfall projections under climate change scenarios. This technical study was completed in the last quarter of 2020. It is one of a series of activities and outputs by GWP-C to inform the preparation of the country’s submission for the second round of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and is part of the Climate Action Enhancement Package (CAEP) from the NDC Partnership.
The Directorate of Water Resources Management and Planning (DGPRE) of Senegal in collaboration with CWP Senegal organised on 22 October 2021 a workshop with the aim of sharing the reports elaborated by the consultants and collecting the opinions of the actors of the water sector on the results of the process of accompaniment to the acceleration of the implementation of phase 2 of the IWRM Plan (PAGIRE 2).
