CEENERGYNEWS spoke with Konstantin Ivanov, Regional Coordinator at the Global Water Partnerships Central and Eastern Europe about the importance of investing in water that supports sustainable development, boost the economy and create new jobs and opportunities.
GWP Central America holds a photography contest every year to engage partners, youth and other actors around water issues. The winner of the contest this year is Francisco Gil from Panama, who says that “youth is the main pillar for the conservation of our water resources”. The photograph was taken in Chiguiri Arriba in the province of Coclé.
On 27 October, Global Water Partnership and Wuhan International Water Law Academy organised an online engagement session based on the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on Governance for Transboundary Freshwater Security. The topic was ‘Does the world need more International Water Law?’ The event attracted approximately 100 participants. “One of the most encouraging feedback was a participant who realized ‘we don’t need to be lawyers to work with international water law.’ We tend to think that it is always lawyers who exercise the law, but the law is there to be exercised by anyone,” said GWP’s Yumiko Yasuda after the event.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres has invited leaders to New York on 23 September for one week to boost ambition and accelerate actions to implement the Paris Agreement on Climate Change. GWP will be present during the week and is calling on its network to participate in the climate strikes.
Global Water Partnership West Africa (GWP-WA), as part of the celebration of 25 years of activities of the Global Water Partnership (GWP), is launching the sixth edition of the "Water and Environment" journalism contest.
GWP is strongly positioned at Stockholm World Water Week (WWW) 2019 through its involvement in more than 30 events, as well as a launch of its new strategy and other publications. WWW takes place 25-30 August, with this year's theme being "Water for society - Including all".
The Global Water Partnership's vision is for a water secure world. Its mission is to support the sustainable development and management of water resources at all levels.
