Nature-based solution implemented by GWP-Med with support by The Coca-Cola Foundation relieves water stress for Greek island of Lipsi

GWP capitalised on the unique opportunity offered by the 9th World Water Forum – as a place of convergence for stakeholders across its global membership – to host a two-day workshop on the Global Water Leadership (GWL) Programme. GWL country and regional leads met for the first time to discuss plans for the second year of the programme and explore how they can encourage cross-sectoral cooperation while also engaging face-to-face with experts from the GWP network.

From 4 to 10 April 2021 in Lomé, Togo, GWP-WA’s National IWRM Consultant participated in the mission to conduct a Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS) expected to lead to develop a high-quality concept note for the project for building the resilience of vulnerable Communities in the country through providing IWRM and WASH climate-sensitive services.

On 13 May, GWP Central America will present a report on the progress of implementing Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in Central America. The report is based on the national SDG 6.5.1 consultations that were carried out in 2020 by GWP and Partners.

Five communes (Avrankou, Bopa, Ifangni, Ouinhi and Pobè) in Benin were supported for good governance principles in their municipalities through an exercise to promote integrity practices in the water and sanitation sector. The Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) Water Energy Food (WEF) Regional Governance Framework is expected to strengthen WEF Nexus governance in the region. The Framework together with the web- based regional investment project screening and appraisal tool form part of the milestones achieved during the first phase of the WEF Nexus Project implemented from January 2017 to December 2019. The WEF Nexus Phase One has also been key to promoting the WEF Nexus agenda in the SADC region, attracting high-level political buy-in in the region and interest beyond the SADC region.
