GWP Pakistan in collaboration of Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) organised a training on preparation of master plans for water storage and hydropower development in Pakistan on 6 August 2019 at WAPDA House, Lahore, Pakistan.
GWP’s global and regional staff met in Amman, Jordan, on 13-16 May for the network’s annual Regional Days. One of the big agenda items was GWP’s new Strategy 2020-2025, which is due to be launched in July. Other topics were GWP’s 3-year work programmes and finding a common understanding around GWP’s work in convening multi-stakeholder dialogues.
The GWP-WA Executive Secretariat Team met on 25 and 26 July 2018 at the premises of the Secretariat. The meeting aims were: (i) to make a mid-year assessment of the implementation of the annual work plan 2018 and (ii) to take the necessary steps to facilitate the attainment of the targeted objectives and the expected results by the end of the year for the network.
GWP South Asia attended the Transboundary Rivers of South Asia (TROSA) Annual Learning Forum 2018 held in Kathmandu, Nepal from 24 to 25 July 2018. The theme of the forum was “Partnerships for Inclusive Water Governance in South Asian River Basin Forum”.
Since 2004, the Danube Art Master competition has united children from schools, NGOs, clubs, daycare centres in 14 countries of the Danube Basin, who share passion for the rivers and art.
The Country Water Partnership (CWP) of Mali which is benefitting from a financing to help in the implementation of the IWRM Plan funded by DANIDA visited in December the CWPs in Burkina Faso and Benin.
The 2019 United Nations Climate Change Conference, also known as COP25, will take place on 2-13 December, in Madrid, Spain. The conference is being held under the presidency of the Chilean government. GWP is an accredited IGO observer and will bring new water insights to the climate agenda.
The Water and Climate Network of Central African Youth Organisations (RECOJAC) participated in the launch meeting of the 9th World Water Forum from 20th to 21st June 2019. The Youth network is recognized as a key regional network for supporting the preparation of the Forum.
