The Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) are a powerful framework for laying out priorities for national climate action, with the potential to guide priorities such as building climate resilience and climate-resilient infrastructure. They can be developed into country-level strategies and/or approaches for mobilising finance for climate resilient infrastructure programmes and projects and for enhancing the necessary policy and regulatory frameworks. The first window of opportunity ahead is the submission of new or updated NDCs in 2020.

How can Mediterranean countries effectively address the COVID-19 emergency, without neglecting long-standing sustainable development challenges and water commitments in particular? What are the water agenda-related investment strategies that can promote climate resilience and sustainable development targets, while also helping to deal with the crisis and assist immediate recovery?

With the start of a new year, a new decade, and with a new GWP Strategy, GWP Central America Executive Secretary Fabiola Tábora says that it is important to have all GWP Partners and allies working together. Atty. Jo Kristine Celera-Revil is the Enterprise Regulatory Affairs Director for the East Zone at Manila Water Company Inc. in the Philippines. The company has been a GWP Partner since 2004. In this interview, she shares an overview of the organisation and its active collaboration with GWP. 

Following a study conducted by GWP-Cameroon within the context of the AIP Water Climate Development-Gender Program (WACDEP-G) to identify the formal and informal barriers to gender equality in the planning and implementation of development projects in the country’s water and climate sector, a stakeholder dialogue was held in Douala from April 29th – 30th to consolidate and enrich the results and recommendations of the study.

As part of the implementation of the activities of the Project "Integrating Flood and Drought Management and Early Warning for Climate Change Adaptation in the Volta Basin", the implementing partners met on 27 September 2019 in the conference room of the Volta Basin Authority (VBA) to discuss the modalities for the implementation of the first activities of the Project.
