About GWP-SEA

Global Water Partnership Southeast Asia (GWP-SEA) is one of 13 Regional Water Partnerships and the oldest network of GWP. GWP-SEA has strong regional networks and partners in all sectors as well as Country Water Partnerships (CWPs). Today there are CWPs in all 8 countries in the region, namely Lao PDR, Cambodia, Myanmar, Thailand, Viet Nam, Indonesia, Philippines and Malaysia. These CWPs have growing number of GWP partners who represent a wide diversity of sectors e.g. water management, agriculture, education, environment, professional organizations, development banks, rural & community development organizations, government institutions, NGOs, INGOs and so forth.

Towards a WEM Framework Programme within the UfM Water Agenda

The Water-Employment-Migration (WEM) Lab II (19-20 November 2019, Istanbul), brought together representatives of key institutions (including on migration and labour), governments and stakeholders including the private sector civil society and academia, to identify related challenges, possible solutions and synergies among a range of partners. The focus was on addressing key lines towards building the WEM Framework Programme of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Water Agenda, building on contributions by on-going and future actions and projects.

“Think equal, build smart, innovate for change”

On 8 March 2019: International Women’s Day falls on 8 March with this year’s theme “Think equal, build smart, innovate for change” which focuses on innovative ways in which individuals can advance gender equality and the empowerment of women, particularly in the areas of access to public services, social protection systems and sustainable infrastructure. Transformations, integrated approaches and new solutions are necessary particularly for advancing gender equality and empowering women on the journey to achieve the ambitious Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In other words, “business as usual” will not be sufficient and should put forward innovative approaches that removes structural barriers and ensures no woman and no girl is left behind.
