GWP is coordinating the formulation of a Water Resources Strategy and Action Plan for the Nacaome, Choluteca and Sampile river basins in the Gulf of Fonseca region in Honduras. The Strategy was validated in a series of workshops in December and January and is expected to be finalized during the month of March 2021.
The first meeting of the program coordinating committee was held in Cotonou on Tuesday, February 23, 2021, with the actors involved in the implementation of the WACDEP-G program in Benin.
The alternative report is the result of the alternative monitoring done by the civil society and which allows to have a citizens' point of view on the management of the sector, other than the one given by the Decision-Makers.
GWP is collaborating with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) secretariat and other partners to create a vision and plausible water solutions of a desirable climate-resilient future in 2030 and beyond. The new initiative is called "Water Resilience Frontiers: Pathways for transformational Climate Resilient Water Security in 2030 and Beyond". The initiative is part of the UNFCCC Nairobi Work Programme’s Resilience Frontiers. The UNFCCC is convening a Resilience Lab for the duration of COP25. GWP Cameroon and its partners have trained women leaders in the Meri District, Northern Cameroon on community sensitization on fluorosis and its health impacts. The aim was to help change mentalities and break stereotypes related to dental fluorosis. An evaluation shows that the training and the activities of the women leaders has had a positive impact on the community's perception of the disease. The approach also created momentum for awareness activities in the entire Mayo Tsanaga River Basin.
