The African Development Bank(AfDB), in its capacity as the chair of the Regional Process Commission of the 8th World Water Forum, African Ministerial Council on Water (AMCOW) as overall Africa Regional Process Coordinator, and Global Water Partnership (GWP) as Africa Regional Process Technical Coordinator for the 8th World Water Forum convened a regional workshop in Entebbe , Uganda on 18-19th January 2018 to consult and validate the African report in preparation of the 8th World Water Forum to be held in Brasilia, Brazil, from 18th to 23rd March 2018
The Integrated Drought Management Project (IDMP) manager, Ms Félicité Vodounhessi made a follow up mission in Niger where she visited the Torodi pilot project beneficiaries. This project involves the development of the irrigated crop site for the women in the village of Kankantouti.

The Burkina Faso Water Partnership (CWP-BF) organized the first edition of the Water and Sanitation Trophies on Friday, December 2, 2016 in Ouagadougou. The purpose of the event was to magnify, encourage and give visibility to the men and women who have distinguished themselves in the field of water and sanitation. The ceremony was held under the patronage of the former minister of water and current president of the National Assembly, Salifou Diallo, under the presidency of Ambroise Niouga OUEDRAOGO, Minister of Water and Sanitation and the co-sponsorship of Mats HÅRSMAR Chargé d'affaires at the Swedish Embassy in Burkina Faso and Mr. Cheick Fantamady KANTE, Country Representative of the World Bank in Burkina Faso.

According to the existing statued of GWP -SEA, the governance system consists of partners (through Consulting Partners Meeting), Steering Committtee, and Secretariat. The Steering Committee (SC) will serve as highest policy and decisions making of GWP-SEA, and shall be composed by democratically elected representatives from each Country Water Partnership (CWP) or Country Network. It shall have one member representing their respective CWP plus a Chair. The SC Members will be elected by their respective CWPs or Country Network. One half of the member of the first SC will have maximum term of three years while the other half will have a term of two years.
