Coinciding with World Water Day, 22 March, GWP is launching a brand-new website – in 14 editions! Every GWP region (13 in total) has its own regional website, plus the global website www.gwp.org tying them all together. This hasn’t changed, but in addition to a new responsive look and design, the big makeover lies in new search functions for knowledge, news, events, and partners, as well as highlighting GWP's results.

The Global Water Partnership-Caribbean (GWP-C) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Simone Lewis, as its new Regional Coordinator. Ms. Lewis who is from Grenada, will assume office on October 1st, 2018.

The International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Central and West Africa Programme held the steering committee meeting of its programme Partnership for environmental governance in West Africa (PAGE) on 16 February 2018 in Ouagadougou.

A Regional Workshop for the Validation of the Draft ECOWAS Directive on Shared Water Resources Management in West Africa, held on 2 and 3 May 2017 in Dakar, under the chairmanship of Mr. Diène FAYE, Secretary of State in charge of Hydraulics of Senegal.

GWP has committed to “building a water secured world” via its unique property--multiple-stakeholders participation (MSP). Over twenty years, the diverse network of GWP has depended on MSP that helps GWP promote its vision and missions, and set up partnerships with different organisations from 84 countries. WWF8 appears a festival to GWP and all concerning water issues who gathered in Brazil which is the 5th largest country with 85% vegetation, to exchange theories, practical lessons and achievements and develop networking.

On Friday 27 July, the team in charge of developing the national drought plan for Burkina Faso met with the CWP-Burkina Faso Executive Secretariat Team to discuss the participation of the Integrated Drought Management platform set up by the CWP Burkina Faso under IDMP- West Africa in the process.

Good governance around transboundary waters is critical for water security, regional socio-economic development, peace, and stability. Since 2010, GWP has been conducting capacity building trainings on International Water Law (IWL) and water governance. While there is no shortage of trainings on transboundary water issues, the uniqueness of GWP’s IWL workshops lie in the peer-to-peer and cross-continental learning, says GWP Senior Network Specialist Yumiko Yasuda. This has proved to be a successful formula that GWP is now ready to take to the next level – an online platform to support existing training and close learning gaps.

Julienne ROUX, Senior Network Officer (SNO) for GWP-WA, made a week-long immersion visit to the Regional Executive Secretariat in Ouagadougou.

The annual GWP Network Meeting will be held on 11 October at 13.00 Central European Time (CET). It is a virtual meeting, to be broadcast on the GWP website www.gwp.org – with a special guest message from UN Deputy Secretary General (DSG) Jan Eliasson.
