In June 2020, the Ministry of Water Resources sent an expert team to Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan Province, to explore water development regarding science and technology in mountain areas. Prof Yunzhong Jiang, regional coordinator of GWP China, was one of the professional advisors.
Two days online training on Integrated Drought Management was organized for the participants from four Drin basin countries (Albania, Kosovo*, Montenegro and North Macedonia) with the goal to enhance the capacity for integrated, proactive approach to drought planning, adaptation and management.
A CWP Burkina and GWP-WA team including the regional Project Officer, a Young Professional and the Executive Secretary of the CWP-BF, visited Koankin in the rural commune of Saponé to monitor and observe the effective start of composting activities as part of the implementation of the TFTC project in Burkina Faso.
World Water Day (WWD) is commemorated on 22 March every year. This year’s theme was “Leaving no one behind”. GWP and its Partners worldwide supported the theme by arranging a wide range of activities. The Support Package provides guidance and tools on how countries can design and facilitate multi-stakeholder processes aimed at monitoring and reporting of SDG indicator 6.5.1. The goal is to employ SDG 6.5 national monitoring and reporting frameworks to identify, through multi-stakeholder consultations, critical areas for attention that hinder progress on IWRM.
Gender-specific information reported through a SDG 6.5.1 survey showed that gender-related aspects were among the least advanced among all aspects of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM). On 16 September, the SDG IWRM Support Programme is organising an online event to share learning experiences from the survey and discuss what actions to take to improve gender mainstreaming.
From Monday 13 to Saturday 17 May 2019, a delegation from the Water Integrity Network (WIN) visited Benin as part of an exchange mission with the CWP and its partners involved in the fight for integrity in the water and sanitation sector.
