In 2020, GWP South America organised a contest among regional Partners. The topic was on Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) and featured projects successfully carried out in 2020. The top 5 submissions were shared in a series of webinars during April to June this year – presenting results, conclusions, and concerns.
Since inception in 2018, #TonFuturTonClimat has been implemented in Togo through the Youth Support Project for the Protection of the Environment, Water and Soil (PAJPEES) in Danyi-Apéyémé. To assess the activities already implemented and those in progress, a participatory evaluation was carried out in February.

GWP China has warm hands from strong partner organisations promoting gender equality in the lead-up to #IWD2019.
GWP Steering Committee Member and CEO of Thirst Mina Guli is going to run 100 marathons in 100 days – her single goal is to raise awareness around the global water crisis, and show what 100% commitment to water means. Mina’s challenge starts on 4 November with the New York Marathon. She will then run across Europe, China, Australia, India, the Middle East, Africa and South America, before finishing her 100-day run in the United States. GWP will help Mina to share water stories along her route.
The SADC Water-Energy-Food (WEF) Nexus Governance Framework, that was developed by SADC with technical assistance from GWPSA, was approved in a joint meeting held by the Ministers responsible for Energy and Water from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) on the 30th October 2020 through video conferencing, hosted by the Republic of Mozambique.
The Country Water Partnership (CWP) of Senegal is willing to give the national platform a new dynamism. The CWP Chair, Dr. Adrien COLY with his team organized on 18 November 2020 in Dakar one day workshop for the mobilization of the Steering Committee and the Scientific Committee.
Regional Roundtable in Tirana, organised by GWP-Med, discusses components of a Roadmap for addressing Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems Nexus challenges in South East Europe
On 25 March 2019, the Southern African Development Community (SADC) convened a Gender Mainstreaming in the Water Sector Project Preparation and Financing Clinic in Johannesburg, South Africa. The workshop, organised with support from the Global Water Partnership Southern Africa (GWPSA), brought together financiers, project developers/promoters, project implementers, gender focal points and gender machinery from the 16 SADC countries to discuss practical issues with regards to gender mainstreaming during project preparation and mobilising financing processes.
The Southern African Development Community (SADC) regional water sector programme is driven through the five-year Regional Strategic Action Plans (RSAPs) for the sector, and is currently implementing the 4th version of (RSAP IV). For the water sector, the RSAPs serve both as a coordinating philosophy and a vehicle to deliver on the aspirations of SADC as articulated in the Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan (RISDP), Regional Infrastructure Master Plan (RIDMP) and other regional and sectoral policies and strategies.
Within the framework of Water Climate Development Program- Gender (WACDEP-G), GWP-CAf organized the first WACDEP-G capacity building workshop in the region on October 14th 2020 in Yaounde, Cameroon.
