The CWP chair, Mamadou Alpha HANN led the Executive Secretariat to meet with the President of Commission No 3 of the Economic and Social Council (ESC), Mr Maurice DOPAVOGUI, accompanied by Mrs Guilao Joséphine LENO, former Minister and member of the ESC, to discuss the possibilities of collaboration with his institution.
From 7 July 2018 the Programme for the Integrated Management of the Fouta Djallon Highlands is considered as transferred from the African Union to the Economic Commission of West African States (ECOWAS).
With the resumption of activities in Bangui and to facilitate the implementation of WACDEP in the country, the Country Water Partnership of the Central African Republic convene its statutory meetings, the Assembly of Partners and the Steering Committee on 17 August 2017 and 18 August. This CWP was set up in 2008 but remained relatively inactive due to the troubles the country has been facing. A new Steering Committee was put in place, and Mr. YAKENDE Rodrigue Prosper was elected as the new chair.
The 48th World Economic Forum Annual Meeting will take place on 23-26 January 2018 in Davos-Klosters, Switzerland. More than 2,500 participants from over 100 countries will participate in over 400 sessions.
The International Water Association (IWA) and its partners will hold the next edition of the IWA Water and Development Congress & Exhibition (IWA WDCE2017) on 13-16 November in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The Partnership engagement modality is country driven. Countries will provide leadership to the partnership, articulating the needs and priority support areas to advance preparation and implementation of climate resilient water projects. Country entities will also be the primary source of knowledge, best practices, and lessons to be shared among members of the Partnership, which promotes peer-to-peer learning.
GWP China Yangtze River was founded in December, 2018, to convene all members to promote the Water Law of the PRC in accordance with the Constitution of the PRC.
A West African delegation of 10 participants from Burkina Faso, Ghana, Mali and the regional level have taken part into the Green Climate Fund (GCF) workshop in South Africa on the financing of water-related projects. Their participation was made possible through the Water, Climate and Development Programme (WACDEP) to this meeting from 19 to 21 September 2018.
